Family

Origin
South Africa
Description
Hyacinth ‘Gypsy Queen’ features fragrant clusters of delicate apricot-orange flowers that add vibrant colour and a sweet scent to your garden. Its dense flower spikes rise elegantly on sturdy, compact stems, making it an excellent choice for pots and borders. This bulbous perennial, belonging to the Asparagaceae family and native to the eastern Mediterranean, typically grows 25–30 cm tall with a spread of 10–12 cm.
Plant bulbs from October to December in plains or November to January in hills to enjoy blooms from February to March or March to April, respectively, perfect for enhancing bright winter gardens.
Environment
Hyacinth bulbs thrive best in well-drained loam soil enriched with compost or leaf mould. Water moderately to maintain moist—but not waterlogged—conditions. They prefer full sun but can also flourish in partial shade, with planting depths of 5–6 inches. Suitable for cool, partially shaded environments, their optimal temperature range is between 10 to 18 °C. During the growth phase, apply a balanced NPK fertilizer or bone meal to support healthy bulb development.
Landscape Use
Grape hyacinths are good for planting in rock gardens, in the front of beds and borders, or along walkways and paths.
