Description
Anemones are very small bulbs which produce daisy-like flowers. These plants are part of the Ranunculaceae family and are known for their colorful, delicate flowers.
Anemone ‘Lord Lieutenant’ features striking large double blooms in a rich royal-blue shade, with elegant ruffled petals that create a bold focal point in both garden beds and floral arrangements. Its intense color pairs well with white spring blooms for a captivating contrast. This variety grows to 25–30 cm in height and spreads about 15 cm. Plant bulbs from October to December in plains and November to January in hills to enjoy flowering from February to April in plains and March to May in hills.
Environment
Anemones require full sun to partial shade and thrive in fertile, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0). Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged and soak the corms in water for 4-6 hours before planting. Plant the corms 1-2 inches deep with the pointed end facing down, spaced 3-4 inches apart. For optimal growth, use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at planting time.
Landscape Use
Anemones create great groundcovers and borders in full and partial sun areas.
