Description
Agave guiengola ‘Marginata’ is an impressive succulent recognized for its wide blue-green leaves highlighted by vivid yellow edges. This striking, architectural plant forms a compact, symmetrical rosette that enhances any environment. Featuring broad, fleshy, sword-shaped leaves with creamy yellow to golden margins, often lined with small, soft spines and a pronounced terminal spine, it reaches 2–3 feet in both height and width. This medium-sized agave is ideal for container cultivation or as a standout element in garden designs. It grows slowly, usually remaining solitary but may occasionally produce a few offsets.
Environment
Agaves need full sun and gritty soil that percolates easily. They can even do quite well when potted but use an unglazed clay pot that will allow evaporation of excess moisture.
Water needs are moderate to light depending upon the heat of the season but the Cactus should be allowed to dry out before irrigation
In growing season they benefit from the application of a granulated time release fertilizer that will provide nutrient to the plant.
Landscape Uses
This plant serves as a powerful accent and focal point in desert gardens, perfectly suited for oasis and xeric landscape themes. It works exceptionally well around desert and oasis ramadas and patios. Commonly planted in masses or groups spaced 5 to 6 feet apart, it creates a striking visual impact.
